I cannot dispute the fact that no one is error-prone, but what are some of the common mistakes you have seen people, and especially novices, make? Roulette can be a simple game but these errors normally prove to be costly in most cases. The one mistake I see most people make is playing bad bets. For instance, betting on single numbers is not advisable because although the payouts are big, there are normally very little chance of winning.

The most common of all has to do with superstitions, magical thinking, and assumptions based on gambler's fallacy. Once the novice player moves on from blind, mechanical driven strategies like negative progressions, if they don't give up altogether, then they consider situational awareness. I have found that even though spins are not connected mathematically they are connected coincidentally. If a person can't see a streak of 18 reds in a row, then perhaps it is only because they are not looking in the first place. So this is a bit beyond the novice but it seems to be the direction of many Roulette players that stick with it over the years.

The most common mistake that I have seen is not knowing which version to play. They will pick the game that they haven't done any research on, so they end up not knowing what to do. The worst game someone who is starting out can pick is American Roulette since the odds are terrible.
