There really is no rule of thumb for the question you asked, it all depends on what you are trying to accomplish and what you desire in terms of comps and points, profit and what you are willing to play with and lose in terms of your bankroll. A basic rule of thumb is set a bankroll limit and keep to it, so if you hit a big hand (say four of a kind) and you had been running bad up to that point, and it gets you back to even, maybe you should count your blessings and quit and come back again to fight another day. OR, before you start your session, a good rule is to predetermine HOW LOW you are willing to go before you quit, and HOW HIGH you wish to get in terms of profit before you consider quitting the session. Set these limits before and stick to them and you will enjoy your sessions consistently. Another rule to consider is "dont play for comps", or allow comp levels or casino reward systems to dictate how and when (or WHETHER) you play video poker. Where do you normally play?
