It has been said that skilled players have an edge when it comes to video poker. Infact, people are fond of saying that you had better play this kind of poker instead of slots since the odds of winning a hand are higher. I'm not very skilled but if I was to go the video poker way, a black Jacks or Better paytable would do since there is a higher rate of return.

Yes it is a better pay table but you should realize that you are still at a disadvantage (~ -.45%) and will lose in the long run. Occasionally, circumstances of bonus points or other incentives may make a machine positive but it is rare.
