What tips or betting advice would you give a complete noob who wants to learn how to bet on the horses for profit?

How about first going to these races just to have a feel of what goes on? After you have familiarized yourself enough, try placing the small bets. Get enough history about the horses and races but don't be overambitious.

A lot of the times, newbies are so excited about gambling on horses and so they will look for information everywhere then get confused along the way. It pays to be calm and patient. Take your time to learn the basics then make baby steps. That is the best way to learn and above all, always listen to your gut instinct.

Thanks for the advice, guys. I think you're right about first going to the actual races and getting a feel for the action and what goes on there and then starting with the smallest bets possible while learning the technical aspects of betting.
